Mediation works because it :

looks for outcomes that both parties can see as fair

leaves decision-making with the parties

respects the interests of all concerned particularly those of any children involved

is cost-effective and does not waste money on expensive legal fees

aims to reduce conflict not create it

A first appointment at the Mediation Service can be arranged as an individual or as a joint appointment. Either way it is essentially an information meeting to help decide whether and how mediation might help in the situation. You will both need to attend such an appointment either separately or together before any mediation can commence.

Please note that your details and application will be treated as confidential by the Service and will not be disclosed to anyone else without your express permission.
